What does LEAVEN do?

LEAVEN provides limited financial assistance to people who are struggling to meet their basic needs and have no where else to turn for help. We also help connect clients to other community resources.

Who does LEAVEN help?

LEAVEN helps people who reside in Outagamie, Calumet and northern Winnebago (Neenah & Menasha) counties and New London residents who live in Waupaca County. You must be over 18 years old to apply for help.

What does LEAVEN help with?

LEAVEN helps with basic human needs, especially housing. We help with rent, mortgage, and security deposits. We assist with gas, electric or water service by helping prevent disconnection or helping to get reconnected. For qualified applicants, we also provide gas cards, bus passes, diapers, toiletries, and vouchers for clothing and furniture.

Where is LEAVEN located?

LEAVEN's main office is at 1475 Opportunity Way in Menasha. We also have 5 satellite offices.

How do I get help?

Requests for transportation, clothing and furniture vouchers, diapers, and toiletries can be made on a walk-in basis during office hours. If you need other financial help, you need to call and schedule an appointment.

How soon will I be seen?

We can see you anywhere from 1 to 3 days of when you call to make an appointment.

How long are the appointments?

Appointments are approximately 45 minutes in length.

What do I need to bring with me to the appointment?

You will need to provide proof of identification. You should also bring any papers that are needed for your request: utility bills, mortgage coupons or statements, eviction notices, etc.

What if I do not speak English?

LEAVEN has Spanish-speaking interviewers available to meet with clients. Clients that speak other languages will need to bring their own interpreter.

What happens at the appointment?

You will meet with an interviewer who will ask you questions about you and the members of your household. This includes information on employment, income, benefits, and expenses. You will be asked to explain why you need our help.

What happens after the appointment?

You may be given forms that need to be completed before we can consider your request. Once the paperwork has been returned, your case will be reviewed by a LEAVEN caseworker who decides if we will be able to provide assistance and the amount.

Am I guaranteed assistance?

We try to help everyone who needs assistance but there is no guarantee that we will be able to provide help.

When will I know if you are helping me?

Typically 2-3 business days after all requested paperwork is returned to our office.

How will I know if you are helping me?

You will need to call our office to follow up. 920-738-9635.
