Volunteer Opportunities

Tom and Mary O'Hearn
2011 Volunteers of the Year

Tom, Mary and other LEAVEN volunteers were honored at our September, 2011 Volunteer Event.

Hundreds of your friends and neighbors - including clergy, nurses, accountants, students, and domestic engineers - are working to make a difference in our community. Together, they donated over 18,000 hours in 2010 to help ensure that every dollar contributed to LEAVEN has maximum benefit to our neighbors in need. Although some positions allow you to volunteer as your time permits, most volunteers typically work one three-hour shift a week. If you are interested in a rewarding experience, there is a role for you:

Receptionist: Greet clients, answer questions and provide information over the telephone, administer the appointment calendar.

Interviewer: Learn about client needs through an interview process and document client stories.

Case worker: Verify and coordinate client needs; determine LEAVEN grants.

For more information about LEAVEN volunteer roles, contact Julie C., Volunteer Coordinator, 738-9635.

Administrative assistant: Support LEAVEN in countless ways, from mailings to special events.

Records: Organize information about clients and LEAVEN activity.

LEAVEN has special needs as well, from interpreters to computer technicians. Contact Julie C., Volunteer Coordinator, at 738-9635 for more information.
