THUMBNAIL:  DEBORAH WETTER

Deborah feels she has come full circle from her birth in California, a short time in Massachusetts to Wausau, WI where her father became president of Wausau Insurance.  Her claim to prom fame was to be the 5-year-old candy queen for selling salt water taffy for Wausau High School.  To this day she cannot face taffy. She studied cello into her 20s taking weekly lessons at Lawrence University.  She went on to Radcliff, the women’s Harvard she says, where she had more dates than she could imagine and left after a year to work in Boston.  She came back to Radcliff  for her MBA, married and took a job in Charlottesville, SC to start up a bus company.  Her enjoyment of the business took her to several bus companies in management.  She later divorced, remarried and she and her husband adopted his baby grandson.  She moved to San Jose CA where she introduced light rail and got into Rotary and trouble.  While on a club project removing graffiti, she operated a spray gun.  A Rotarian asked a question, and without turning the gun off she turned to answer coating her accomplice with beige. After San Jose she went on to work for BART and then to Am Track in New Orleans for eight years.  From there she moved to a private rail company in Chicago and left private sector to come to Appleton where she manages our transit authority
