Welcome Letter from our President
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the updated website of the Rotary Club of Appleton. I believe you will find the site to be informative whether you are a current member, a prospective member who may have an interest in joining our service organization, or someone just browsing for information. I also invite you to visit us on our Facebook page and to “Friend” us.
The Rotary Club of Appleton is one of more than 33,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide who share the common goal of “Service above Self”. Rotary is the world’s largest non-religious affiliated service organization in the world. The Rotary Club of Appleton currently has approximately 200 members representing nearly all professions who have realized the many benefits of what it means to be a “Rotarian”. These include developing lasting friendships while at the same time advancing peace and goodwill through service on a local, national, and international level.` This can be accomplished through interacting with members at our weekly meetings, performing service related projects with them, or becoming actively involved in our newly formed “Fellowship” groups. The Rotary theme for the 2011-2012 year is “Reach Within To Embrace Humanity”.
As you pursue the website you will find information on current activities and service projects the Club is involved in, along with a calendar listing the weekly meetings and respective informational programs on many different subjects that are offered. Our weekly newsletter, the “GUSTO” offers great insight into club activities and meetings.
A review of the various committees and the Appleton Rotary Foundation gives an indication of the types of activities the Club is involved in as well as the funding of them. These include participating in the worldwide initiative to eradicate polio through our “Polio Plus” initiative, assistance in the Peruvian Mobile Medical project, the sponsorship of youth scholarship programs, a Rotary Youth Exchange program, and a Rotary Youth Leadership Conference.
I encourage you to review the links regarding Rotary International and its Foundation to gain a greater understanding of what Rotary does on a worldwide basis and within our District 6220 including the SAMP program in which the Rotary Club of Appleton has taken a leading role. Information on other area clubs is also given.
In closing, I truly believe you will find involvement in Rotary will be a most rewarding experience. If you are a member who is not actively involved, I invite you to do so, and consider taking a leadership role at the Committee or Board level. If you know someone who is considering joining the Club, I encourage you to get in touch with me and I will be honored to invite you to a meeting as a guest of the Club.
Thank you all very much for taking the time to visit our website.
Sincerely,
Dan Nisler
President
