Addressing Preschool - Elementary, Anxiety, “Superflex” and Emerging Perspective Takers for Students with High-Functioning Autism, Asperger Syndrome, PDD-NOS, ADHD. Presented by Stephanie Madrigal.

This workshop will target social thinking lessons across a range of students, all of who we would describe on the “higher end of the autism spectrum” and with like disabilities (Asperger Syndrome, PDD-NOS, NLD, and ADHD).  The lessons described in this workshop are beyond what is written in Michelle Winner’s Think Social! Curriculum and explores a range of issues for students with social learning challenges.

Workshop for Educators $25 (Appleton Area School District Teachers No Charge). Parents may attend this workshop at no charge.

A special evening presentation will be held for parents and caregivers will also be presented at no charge.  Download the registration brochure for more information.

ASFV Annual Golf Outing

We wrapped up another successful golf outing on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Irish Waters Golf Course in Freedom. We'd like to thank our sponsors and players for making this another fundraiser that was over the top!  Proceeds from this event helps support family activities such as Monkey Joes, teen scholarships, safety scholarships, education activities, annual football camp and other activities.

Families Who are New to Autism

Finding out about how and what kind of help to get for your child are just a few of the many questions you may have. Our local chapter does not have all the answers but we do have suggestions, knowledge and experiences that we are willing to share with you in order for you and your family to get going and to keep going. We have support group meetings, and activities for parents and for the kids with autism.  Be sure to join our newsletter and event subscription (above).  We're there to answer your questions and help you try to find the answers.

Parent/Caregiver Support Group Meetings

Are you interested in talking with other parents who have children on the spectrum?  Once a month, parents have the opportunity to get together in a relaxed, informal atmosphere to talk about everything from their personal experiences to available resources and general education about autism.  Past meeting topics have included gluten-free/casein-free diets, physician referrals and ABA providers.  Meetings are held once a month on the second Sunday of the month in Neenah from 6-7:30 p.m.  If you are interested, please contact Kathy Lett at kathy_Lett@hotmail.com or phone her at (920) 582-4724 and she will add you to the mailing list.
