Shirley Lee Contest Rules
- There is no entry fee, but only paid up members of the club are eligible.
- The deadline for entries is the April meeting.
- Only one entry per member is allowed, with a limit of 2,500 words (excluding headers).
- Any form of writing is acceptable - serious or humorous, prose or verse, fact or fiction.
- Manuscripts should be double-spaced with a legible font of your choice.
- Pages should be numbered and carry only the title (NOT THE AUTHOR'S NAME) on top of each page.
- A separate cover page should show your name, address, phone number, and any available e-mail address, as well as the title and word count of the manuscript.
- Entries will be identifiable by number only. A recognized authority on creative writing will be chosen as an impartial, independent judge to select the three best entries (optionally an honorable mention).
- Winners will be announced at the June picnic and will read their stories. (Names are to be kept secret until then.)
- The first-place winner will be honored with a traveling trophy (a plaque with engraved winners' names) and a $40 cash prize. Second place will be presented with a certificate and $30. Third place will receive a certificate and $20.
