Randal Files
Randal was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1954. His family moved to Brinkley, Arkansas early in 1955. Randal graduated Brinkley High School in 1972 and enlisted in the Marine Corps soon after.
After his four year tour of duty, Randal returned to Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he studied literature and creative writing.
Randal joined the Central Arkansas Fiction Writers group in 1979. While in college, as an assignment, he wrote his first screenplay. In 1982 a low budget film, White Gold, was being shot in Arkansas by Pinnacle productions. Randal tried to sell a script idea to the producer of that film. Instead of selling a script he won a small role in that movie and went on to appear in seven films. His most notable role was that of Frank in Crown International's 1989 film, Top Cop. Though Randal had made his way to third billing in that film, his heart remained in writing. He returned to his keyboard.
Randal was also the front man for several garage bands over the years. He is a guitar player and singer. His bands had success in clubs throughout the South. Though he did appear in a show in Nashville on New Year's Eve 1990, Randal always thought his true musical talent lay in the lyrics to the songs that he would write. Again, it was his talent as a writer that inspired him.
In 1999 Randal married Anna and relocated to her home state of Wisconsin. He is now a member of the Fox Valley Writers Group. You can see some of Randal's writings at his web page.
