FVLC General Meeting Minutes
December 1, 2006
Fox Valley Technical College
- Call to Order
Gretchen Raab, President, called the meeting to order at 8:45 a.m. at the Fox Valley Technical College. She welcomed the speaker, Dr.Michael Fox of UW-Oshkosh.
- Introduction of Executive Board Members
Gretchen introduced the board members-all were present!
- Approval of minutes from May 2006 meeting
Karen Probst moved to approve the minutes. Pete Gilbert seconded. The motion carried.
- Treasurer's Report
Pete received applause for the Treasurer's Report! He explained that the dues have come in and that the bulk of the expenditures are programming. We have a pile of money and we are interested in creative ways to spend it for the benefit of the libraries in the Fox Valley Library Council. Rick Krumwiede moved to approve the Treasurer's Report. Karen Probst seconded. The motion carried.
- Announcements
- Educational Committee-introductions.
Mark Arend introduced the members who were present and named those were absent. He made an appeal for more committee members to represent the northern end of FVLC.
- Educational Grants are available from our group.
Of particular interest to the school members present might be that WEMA is coming up in March. We do fund people to attend.
- Programs in 2007.
March 9, 2007-"Hepcat, Coolcat, Badgercat and Wiscat" presented by Kirsten Houtman and Michelle Rosenberg. Location to be announced.
May 11, 2007-"Exploring Wisconsin on a Budget" presented by Nancy Anderson at the New London Public Library.

At 8:55, Mark Arend made a motion to adjourn. Karen Probst seconded. The motion carried.
*The meeting was followed by a phenomenal presentation, made by Dr. Michael Ford of UW-Oshkosh, about looking at the new generation of readers and their skills and habits. It was a humor-filled, thought provoking, stimulating presentation.
