Program: "Serving Patrons with Special Needs"

Place: Appleton Public Library, Meeting Room C

John Meissner of Options for Independent Living, Inc. and Lisa Murphy of Arc Fox Cities will discuss the do's and don'ts when working with patrons with physical and mental disabilities including etiquette tips and using people-first language. John will demonstrate some assistive devices that libraries might provide for patron use and Lisa will describe best practices for dealing with behavioral issues, emphasizing the distinction between the person and the behavior.

Attending the presentation earns 1.0 contact hours for continuing education.
