The Backyard Wildlife Habitat program was begun in 1973 by the National Wildlife Federation to encourage individuals who garden for wildlife.  The program encourages everyone - homeowner, teacher, community leader - to plan their landscape with the needs of wildlife in mind.  More than 27,445 sites are certified in the program, including many in the Fox Cities.
