Others in Attendance: Gene Rosin, Bob Jakel, JoEllen Wollangk

Mayor Gene Rosin called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

After introductions, Mayor Rosin reported on the background of the City's acquisition of the Grignon Mansion (GM) and outlined the relationship between the City and the Kaukauna Home (Mansion) Board (GMB). He also relayed that he had received inquiries about tours at the Mansion including a request for use of the GM by the Outagamie County Historical Society (OCHS) for its School Days Program on Wednesday, May 2, and Thursday, May 3rd.

Since the OCHS request needed to be finalized before the GMB was organized, Mayor Rosin authorized OCHS to use the GM for those dates. Members of the Board concurred with the Mayor's decision.

A general discussion about the mansion and the operation of the GMB identified the following specific tasks:

*** J. Wollangk will find out about the fees charged by OCHS for tours at the Mansion.
*** C. Lahm will secure a copy of the tour script used at the Mansion by OCHS staff.
*** C. Lahm will prepare a set of Bylaws for the GMB for review by the Board at the February meeting.

The following were nominated as officers for the GMB:

*** C. Lahm will contact OCHS to see if they have a more complete inventory of the GM collections.

Motion by M. Abel and second by ????? to authorize B. Jakel to prepare a Humanities Grant grant application for software to catalog the GM collections and, if necessary, to upgrade the HVAC equipment of the Mansion.

Discussion followed about the name of the facility: Grignon Home or Grignon Mansion. J. Wollangk pointed out that in the 1930's was more widely known as the "Grignon Mansion" or "The Mansion in the Woods" and the designation "Grignon Home" was in local usage.

Motion by L. Collins and second by ?????? to authorize C. Lahm to purchase the following domains for the GMB: grignonhome.org and grignonmansion.org for use in establishing a Webpage for the Mansion; and to purchase a membership in Fox Cities Online to secure hosting for such a Webpage.

Motion carried.

Comments by J. Wollangk followed with the following task noted:
*** The sign at the GM still indicates that it is still the property of the OCHS. Since this sign uses vinyl letters it can be easily changed.

Chairperson Kjorlie commented on the business for the next meeting and suggested that the GMB would be requesting input regarding the Mansion from the Kaukauna Area Historical Society, formulating the GMB mission statement, and reviewing proposed GMB Bylaws.

Motion by L. Collins and second by M. Abel that the meeting be adjourned at 7:15 P.M.
All present voted aye.
