This photograph of the Eagle Mill appears to be between 1875-1881 as the floating bridge would have been in front of this main door entrance prior to 1875 and the Cupola on this building was destroyed by fire in 1881. The new draw bridge was built in 1875
The only way to the south side of the canal was on a floating swing bridge or passing over the top of the Lock gates prior to a permanent bridge being built. Raw materials were brought by barge and horse and wagons.  This mill used straw and rags to make paper then switched to Wood Pulp to become the first paper mill to use wood pulp. The draw bridge was built in 1875. This appears to be the swing bridge
