Northside Depot area
The building was a grain elevator for loading railcars

ChicagoAndNorthwesternRailwayKaukaunaWisStation.jpg (29055 bytes) Chicago and Northwestern Coaling facility in Kaukauna.  This Coal elevator was used in 1907 to load coal into steam Locomotives coal bunkers.  It stored 100 Tons of coal.

  The story of George "Stormy" Kromer who was born in Kaukauna in 1876, was a RR fireman in 1897 for the Chicago & NW and an engineer in 1902, He invented a new style hat that is still made today
