One of the major fundraisers for the Neenah-Menasha Roundtable has been our annual pancake fest. The event is held at Neenah's Riverside Park on the fourth Wednesday of May. Each year we serve approximately 700 hungry customers.

Club members sell advertisements for the placemats which grace the tables, as well as tickets for the pancake fest. Members also serve the pancakes, sausages, drinks, etc. They set-up beforehand and assist with cleaning up after the event. A professional vendor is hired to actually cook the pancakes.

Thanks to Bob Reinhardt for contributing the above information.

A new fundraiser that was begun in 2000 was a joint program with the Fox Valleyaires. The program, titled "Barbershop on Broadway," was a show held at Grand Meridian. The Valleyaires and Kiwanians sold tickets, as well as ads for the program brochure, and the Valleyaires performed. The event sold out and was a great success.  Our profits from this annual fundraiser have been earmarked for scholarships for area youth. We are looking forward to the 2006 program, which will be held on Thursday, December 7th.

On February 14, 2005 the club started the Cuddle Closet at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin-Fox Cities. A member came up with the idea shortly after she gave birth to her preemie twins a year ago. She approached the club with the idea to help other parents with their preemies.

And so the Cuddle Closet was born.

It is a loan closet of clothing for parents of newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A cloth bag is available for parents that for any reason, are not prepared with an adequate amount of clothing when the baby is ready to go home. There are some premature-sized cloths and newborn size t-shirts, sleepers, caps, and gowns in the bags.

Whenever the parents no longer need to use these cloths, they may return them back to the hospital and the club members launder and fill new bags with gently used and new cloths. The Cuddle closet is now at St Elizabeth Hospital with the Little Chute Kiwanis club, we hope to see it adopted by other Kiwanis clubs.

The proceeds from the pancake fest and other fundraisers benefit many others in the community. The Neenah-Menasha Roundtable has a strong tradition of giving back to the cities of Neenah and Menasha.  Among the organizations that we supported last year are:

Salvation Army
ARC of Neenah-Menasha
St. Mary Central High School Key Club
Menasha High School Key Club
Neenah High School Key Club
Rawhide Boys Ranch
Neenah Education Foundation
Goodwill Industries
Future Neenah, Inc.
