2009-2010

As the 2009-2010 year begins, Lakeside Quilters' Guild boasts 104 members. The newsletter, published 11 times a year, is called In Stitches. It is mailed electronically to about half of the members.

The Guild meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the Oshkosh Senior Center Annex at 6:30 p.m. The program consists of a variety of presentations, a business meeting, and show and share. For more information, click on "meetings" on the top menu.

BY-LAWS
LAKESIDE QUILTERS, LTD – Oshkosh, Wisconsin

ARTICLE ONE: NAME
The name of the organization shall be Lakeside Quilter’s Ltd.

ARTICLE TWO: PURPOSE
The Lakeside Quilters is established as a non-profit organization to foster and enhance the art of quilting: to educate its members in the methods and techniques of care and creation of quilts: to promote and preserve the heritage of quilting: and to hold regular meetings for the interchange of ideas relating to quilts and quilting.

ARTICLE THREE: MEMBERSHIP
The membership shall consist of any persons interested in the art of quilting that pays the annual dues of the guild. Dues are payable at the first meeting of the guild year. The guild year is from August to July. Members shall participate in the activities and responsibilities of the guild. Interested members may attend 2 meetings before they are required to join.

ARTICLE FOUR: MEETINGS
The guild will meet the third Wednesday of each month throughout the year at a location agreed upon by the members. Meetings will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. No formal meetings will be held in July or December

ARTICLE FIVE: OFFICERS
The officers shall be a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. The officers shall be elected from the total membership and shall serve for two years. Each outgoing officer will present a comprehensive report of the year’s activity to be passed on to the newly elected officer. The newly elected officers begin in August.

ARTICLE SIX: ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The President shall appoint a nomination committee of three persons. The committee will prepare and present a slate of candidates to be voted on. Nominations may also be taken from the floor at that meeting. One-third of the membership must be present to vote. A simple majority is required to elect an officer. Elections to be held in June. President and Secretary elected in even years. Vice President and Treasurer elected in odd years.

A vacancy in any office may be filled by a majority vote of those present at a Board of Directors meeting for the unexpired portion of the term.

ARTICLE SEVEN: BOARD OF DIRCTORS
The Board of Directors shall consist of the officers, all committee chairpersons, (past president), and newsletter editor. The board will handle the guild’s affairs between the meetings. They shall meet as deemed necessary.

ARTICLE EIGHT: COMMITTEES
Standing committees, appointed by the President shall be, Membership, Program, Hospitality, Publicity, Nominating, Chairperson of EAA Gathering, Biennial quilt show, Sunshine, Refreshment, Newsletter editor, Historian, Librarians, and Auditing Committee.

The Program committee will plan the schedule of programs from Sept through Nov.

ARTICLE NINE: MAJOR ISSUES
Major issues can be voted on by the majority of members present at a meeting provided the issue was included in the newsletter the previous month.

ARTICLE TEN: DISSOLUTION CLAUSE
In the event Lakeside Quilters, Ltd. dissolves, any remaining money in the treasury will be donated to the Oshkosh Public Library, which is a non-profit organization, for the purchase of quilting books, quilting videos, etc.
