Our
vision:
Through
the provision of gifted land, Midway Outreach Community Organization
is striving to centralize agencies that address key community needs.
With the ability to facilitate up to eleven non-profit organizations
in our Heart of the Valley location, MOCA can help them deliver
their services with more impact.
Mission
Statement: Inspired by the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Midway
Outreach Community provides an integrated campus for independent
human service organizations to provide for the essential human
needs in our community.
Our
history:
The Midway Outreach Community was established in
1996 when a private family foundation purchased 15 acres of land
adjacent to Midway Road with the purpose of creating a campus of
services for those in need. Upon completion of the first building,
parking lot and infrastructure, the St. Joseph Food Program and
the Community Clothes Closet became the first tenants of the campus.
In addition to giving back to human needs, the Midway Outreach Community
gave back to the earth as the undeveloped areas on campus were seeded
to prairie plants. Today, Midway is the home to a beautiful five
acre prairie restoration.
In 2000, plans began for LEAVEN to join the campus; making food,
clothing, and shelter available from Midway. As site plans were
created for LEAVEN it became apparent that future development would
be inefficient without a change in the ownership/governance of the
land. In June of 2002, the foundation transferred the land into
a Condominium Association where the land is held for eight more
non-profits to build on the campus, making a total of eleven units
that comprise the Midway Outreach Community Condominium Association,
Inc.
As the campus continues to develop, it is the desire of the Association
to continue giving back to human need, spiritual need, and environmental
need. Though parts of the prairie will be built upon, native landscaping
will be established throughout the campus and used for both environmental
and educational purposes. In the spirit of community, the Midway
Outreach Community desires to be a holistic outreach and to improve
the lives of individuals and families in the Greater Fox Valley.
