The American Society on Aging (ASA) is the country's largest professional membership association in aging and related fields. The Trevor Project The Trevor Project grew from the film Trevor about a 13 year old gay boy who when rejected by friends and family for his sexuality, attempts suicide. The 18 minute film won the 1994 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. The Trevor Helpline became the first
national 24-hour toll-free suicide prevention hotline aimed at gay and questioning youth. The Trevor Project also reaches teens through The Trevor Educational Package, designed to be a teaching tool for school and institutional use.
