29th Annual Retreat at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya
From noon on
Saturday, October 8th until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2005
YMCA Camp
U-Nah-Li-Yah (Place of Friends) Suring, Wisconsin
Topic: Personal
Peace Testimonies - An Intergenerational Exploration
YMCA Camp
U-Nah-Li-Ya is a beautiful spot for enjoying fellowship, friends, family and
fall weather. Worship, walk the camp trails, canoe, boat, sing and be a part
of the Quaker talent show (bring kids, kazoo and/or other instrument, favorite
sheet music & songbooks, stories, jokes, etc) and the after-dark lantern
float.
Our program this
year will be intergenerational for older children, teens and adults. On
Saturday the adults will share their personal peace testimonies through a
series of group activities. On Sunday the teens and children may develop and
write down the beginnings of their own personal peace testimonies. These will
be kept in the Fox Valley Friends Meeting records and are also good additions
to their personal records.
Child care will
be provided for children too young to participate in the intergenerational
activities.
This year we will
try a new dining approach. Bring your own camp food and serving ware for lunch
on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. There should be no shortage of
campfires and grills. Bring a dish to share for Saturday evening to go with
the main course of beans and cornbread prepared in a Dutch oven along with hot
dogs and not dogs cooked over a campfire.
Accommodations
consist of heated cabins with rooms that sleep from 2 to 10 in bunk beds with
mattresses. There are heated exterior bathrooms with showers. Bring your own
bedding and bathroom supplies.
A more complete
schedule of activities and details about available recreational resources will
be provided at the camp. For more information contact Clerk Mary Klos (920)
864-2739 or Registrar Reed Hardy (920) 468-4464. E-mail for Mary is calumetdreams@yahoo.com
and for Reed is reed.hardy@sbcglobal.net.
Cost is $15 per
person with maximum of $40 per family.
