2006 Jane LaChapelle McCarty Unity in Diversity Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Toward Community: Unity in Diversity is accepting nominations for the 2006 Jane LaChapelle McCarty Unity in Diversity Award. This honor will be awarded to an individual in our community who has made great strides in bringing different people in the community together.

The award is named after a beloved community member who passed away while an active member of Toward Community. Jane LaChapelle McCarty truly lived in unity with diversity in our community. Jane was a founding member of Toward Community: Unity in Diversity thirteen years ago and sought opportunities to get to know others in our community from diverse backgrounds. Jane worked, lived and loved in the spirit of Dr. King.

The nomination must be one page. Nominations must be submitted to

The award will be announced at this year's 13th annual Martin Luther King Celebration, "Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?", to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2006-Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at the Lawrence University Memorial Chapel on College Avenue in Appleton.

The Martin Luther King Celebration is an inter-faith; multi-cultural event sponsored by Toward Community, Lawrence University, and a number of religious organizations, businesses, and social service agencies.
