Strategic Direction
|
Rationale
|
Examples of how it might
be implemented
|
Advocate proactively for diversity through training, celebration
and collaborations. |
- Requests for training have increased. We don't
want to burn people out, so a collaborative approach would help.·
A collaborative approach would also prepare us to work with
the multi-cultural center.
|
- Seek partners for formal education activities·
- Stay involved with efforts for the multicultural
center·
- Seek ways to identify and promote services
TC can provide
- Maintain our annual celebrations (MLK, FAN,
Diversity picnic), seeking partners to lift them up to the wider
community
|
Work to be a strong voice for social justice on behalf of the broad
spectrum of diversity in the community. |
- We have become increasingly sought out and
more effective in our advocacy for individuals in instances
of discrimination. We can build on that to fill a need in the
community.
|
- Seek ways to identify and promote services
TC can provide
- Actively work with groups promoting minority
interests or equity concerns
- Monitor local activities of hate groups and
respond appropriately
- Respond promptly and effectively to requests
for help
- Maintain awareness of public issues and take
appropriate stands for justice and diversity
- Seek ways to promote dialog between minority
groups and those who have concerns with these groups
|
Organize to increase our effectiveness in fulfilling our mission. |
- While we don't want to create a bureaucracy,
it is time to set some guidelines that ensure that our communications
and structures reflect our purpose and intent.
|
- Designate official spokespersons for TC and
for TC events.
- Better identify communications to members,
especially e-mail, that is "official" TC business
or a TC alert.
- Create guidelines and regular processes for
funding grants and scholarships.
- Make better use of the web.
- Reconsider documentation and communication
through the web, newsletters, and annual reports.
