THE RUN/POWER WALK/BIKE LEGS will be flat and fast on the beautiful WIOUWASH Trail. The WIOUWASH Trail will be closed to the public. Race participants will have the convenience of start line, finish line, and pre-race activities in the same area. They will be treated to beautiful scenery, enthusiastic volunteers, and small town hospitality. Runners will turn back at Breezewood Lane, power walkers will turn back at Hillcrest, and bikers will ride to Brooks Road before turning back and tagging their horse rider in front of Larsen Co-op. WIOUWASH QUAD course marshals will be along the trail and will assess time penalties for any walkers observed running; penalties will not exceed 30 minutes and are at the course marshal’s discretion. Those decisions will be final.
Helmets are recommended for all bike riders, and required for any racer 17 years of age and under.
THE EQUINE LEG will be a one way loop using the WIOUWASH Trail, a field lane and 1 ½ miles of roads. The WIOUWASH Trail will be closed to the public and the roads will have one lane closed to traffic. The 5 ½ mile course is flat, with 3 cement bridges and 2 miles of “no-run” zones. These zones are at the beginning, middle, and end. “No-run” means walking and trotting only- no cantering. The horse riders will be the last leg of the relay. They will start from the Larsen Co-op lumber/feed mill parking lot and finish at Trail Head Park. SAFETY FIRST! Ride to the right of the trail and if you pass horses - do so on the left and announce your intentions to the rider ahead of you. Be courteous and safe. Unsafe riding will not be tolerated! If you or your horse requires help - ask a WIOUWASH QUAD course marshal. WIOUWASH QUAD course marshals will be along the trail and will assess time penalties for horses observed cantering in “no-run” zones; penalties will not exceed 30 minutes and are at the course marshal’s discretion. Those decisions will be final.
