Proceeds from this event and other contributions go directly to The Town of
Clayton Trail Fund and the continued development of the “Friendship Trail”,
a multi-modal recreational trail that parallels the new Highway 10 west of the
Fox Cities. This trail will benefit snowmobilers, horseback riders, bicyclists,
runners, and walkers. This link of the Friendship Trail will intersect with
the WIOUWASH and help connect other local Fox Valley trails, including the Little
Lake Butte des Morts trestle bridge. The trail will eventually travel from Manitowoc
to Stevens Point. Construction of the Friendship Trail in the Town of Clayton
is expected to exceed $600,000.
The biggest challenge….the trail’s crossing of the Canadian Railroad tracks. This will cost the Town an estimated $150,000, because of required signals for the trail plus other necessities to make a safe crossing.
We have received some matching grants to help construct this trail. But we still have a long way to go!
The Town accepted the challenge of constructing the 6.1 mile portion of the trail. There have been a lot of people using this link of the trail already this year–even in its rough graded stage. It’s a promising sign of the value of this recreational trail to the Fox Valley community.
Join us at Westridge Golf Course on August 20, 2005, not only for a good game of golf and fellowship, but also to help support the Friendship Trail!
