The Clayton-Winchester Fire Department has the authorized manpower of 40 firefighters. There area of protection is 72 square miles within the Townships of Clayton and Winchester. The fire department has a mutual aid agreement with the towns of Menasha, Neenah, Vinland, Winneconne Combined, Oshkosh, Algoma, Omro, Boom Bay, Greenville and Dale.
The Clayton-Winchester Fire Department holds a yearly fund-raising event to help pay for equipment. Raffle tickets are mailed out to residents for their fall fundraiser.

Clayton-Winchester First Responders
The Clayton-Winchester First Responders have a roster of 15 current members. The First Responders officially went into service on March 31, 1995. Their first call was taken in April of 1995 and by the years end, they had responded to a total of 52 calls. At the end of 2001, the unit had responded to a total of 665 calls. These calls included medical, trauma and automobile accidents. The Clayton-Winchester First Responders in conjunction with Gold Cross Ambulance respond to emergency calls within the townships of Clayton and Winchester.
Along with responding to medical emergencies, the First Responders:
Hold monthly blood pressure screenings at area churches.
Help with emergency medical coverage at various events in both Winchester and
Clayton townships and area counties.
Do educational sessions at area schools and at various group meetings.
Participate in various fundraisers.
