Report from the Board of Directors

January 2003

Greetings:

I hope you all have a blessed and joyful Christmas and I wish you endless God-filled opportunities in the New Year.

The Board has appointed a Search Team for the new full time minister. The members are Maripat Abbott, John Beck, Linda Duesterhoeft, Aimee Eubank, Barbara Hines, Stephanie Huebner, Tom Kroll, Mark Poulter, and Doug Wurl. The team decided to rotate group facilitator and secretary positions. Doug Wurl will serve as the liaison to the Board of Trustees. The Association of Unity Churches (AUC) provides a 47 page Procedure Packet designed to guide a Church and Search Team through the search process.

The Search Team’s first task is to send information about our church to the AUC. The Search Team will coordinate its efforts with the vision and mission and values being currently developed by the Vision Builder’s Group, The Search Team also wants to be able to represent all of the congregants in the important search for our new minister. The nine members of the team will divide up the names of all of the congregants and make a special telephone call to each of you. We will ask you about your hopes and dreams for who our new minister will be and for your ideas for the search process. The team wants to hear your ideas. The team will bring your ideas to its meeting on January 21st and will compile them in order to provide the basis for the search.

The Search team is basing the search upon Divine Guidance through prayer. The team lovingly asks for you to hold our church and our future minister in prayer knowing that God is working with us to promote our spiritual growth. The Search Team looks forward to the special telephone call to connect with you.

April Kain-Breese, our Licensed Unity Teacher, came to our December Board meeting and promoted a lively and beneficial discussion on church membership. There will be a new membership orientation on January 19th following our potluck luncheon.

At this time I would like to thank all of the Board members for their service to the church with a special thanks to the two Alternates chosen in October. Jan Goetz continues to do a wonderful job and has also been serving as the Board Representative on the Nominating Committee. Mary Schneider has become our new Treasurer and is working closely with our new Stewardship Ad hoc committee. We are all grateful to be able to serve you.
