September 2003
What a summer! Spirit is certainly rewarding us with abundance. Just think about it, abundance is coming to us in many ways; some in my view are the “usual,” some are “unusual” or “unexpected.”
Just for the thrill of it, let’s examine the abundance I view as “usual.”
We are able to fully support the needs and desires of our organization out of our operating funds, in fact, we are “stretching” ourselves this year and supporting initiatives that in the past would have required us to “dip” into our capital funds to support but we have not had to because of abundance. Following are several examples. This year we sent our Interim Minister, fully funded, to the AUC convention in Kansas City. This October we will send our Licensed Unity Teacher and our new full time minister, fully funded, to the regional conference. This fall we will send our Education Team Leader, fully funded, to a Unity education conference to learn the latest skills and procedures in educating our children. We have raised over $10,000 for a minister search fund this year so that we can welcome a new leader and friend into our community.
You may be wondering what I mean by “unusual” or “unexpected” abundance. I define this as the recognition of events or outcomes of events that have in some way or fashion brought us closer as a community. Following are some examples. One year ago we received notification that our first minister would be leaving us and moving onto a new opportunity. Spirit brought us Reverend Marylou; abundance in transition. All of us have been touched by this very special teacher, and we will miss her; but we honor her path and know that every plan God has not orchestrated will be dissolved and dissipated; only the divine plans come to pass. In searching for a new minister to lead this community, a group of individuals were asked to take on a leadership role and devote untold hours of work to find the right and perfect minister; our search team was formed. I can tell you first hand that this team worked many weekends, nights, holidays and Sunday afternoons. This team brought us abundance by realizing that they had a place that they were to fill that no one else could fill. They had a task that they had to do because no one else could; they were the right and perfect team to bring abundance to our community, and I am thankful.
Today we face the reality of welcoming a new minister into our loving community. I recognize this as Abundance! Charles Fillmore tells us, “In your mind see plenty everywhere. Yes, it is hard sometimes to overcome the thought that there is not enough, for it is an insidious thought that has been in consciousness for a long time. But it can be done. The prosperity law is not a theory but a demonstrated fact…..now is the time to open your mind and to see plenty and abundance.”
Rev. Morgan and his wife, Cynthia, have chosen us. We have chosen them. I choose to see this in my mind as “plenty and abundance.” Welcome to Unity Church of Christianity in Appleton….we see the Christ in you!
Peace,
