Report from the Board of Trustees

October 2003

Again, we are so very blessed to be in the very capable hands of our loving Licensed Unity Teacher, April Kain-Breese, until Reverend Morgan Barclay will begin his ministry on October 12th. This is very exciting.

They will both be attending the Regional Conference October 20 – 24th. Mary Poulter’s educational conference was cancelled, but another one has come up to take it’s place. Reverend Barclay’s moving expenses will end up being very reasonable. We went over final points on his contract and finished it. We have reached our goal of $10,000 for moving expenses for our new minister and all is well!

We have seen a great deal of work put out by our old copy machine and are feeling that we are at a point where we would like to replace it with another model to keep churning out the important communications that go through our church every week. (Thank you to all who make our loving church community the successful operation that it is.)

This month, after our initial tithe to Silent Unity, we have chosen to tithe to where we have been so lovingly and spiritually fed – our former Interim Minister, Reverend Marylou Palmer. She certainly has provided a wonderful foundation for our church.

The Board of Trustees discussed the use of our facility and agreed that the minister and administrative assistant handle the arrangements for its use. We decided that if a group wishes to use the facility and charges a fee or takes donations, that they give a love offering to the church that is comfortable for them. The only consideration that we ask is that groups not be scheduled the same night as Board of Trustees’ meetings and Stewardship Committee meetings.

Our president, Doug Wurl, has asked that each member of the Board work with an individual committee/team to set intentions for 2004. They shall coach them through the intention setting process and then the Board member and Chairperson would meet once with the Stewardship Committee to discuss intentions. A date in October or November will be decided upon.

The month of October is here and we are definitely ready to embrace our new minister and make plans for the coming year.
