Home Of Our Own — Questions & Answers
The following questions represent some of the thoughts that have been shared at our town meetings over the last two months as we have begun the process of planning for a home of our own.
Why did the Board decide to move forward with this undertaking at this time?
In Unity, we believe it is all about consciousness and the continual growth of our individual and community consciousness. At our visioning session in April, a powerful singular image of our facility emerged from the 49 participants. Also, the church survey data indicated that over 70% of those surveyed felt our current facility did not meet our needs. In addition, many indicated a willingness to increase financial commitments to see us move forward.
What about the approximate 20% who feel our facility is adequate?
We invite questions and comments from all. We encourage those who are concerned to meet with the minister and or board members to share their concerns. We also welcome written comments and encourage an open dialog like the frank discussions we have had at the last two town meetings. Our real issue has nothing to do with a facility; it has to do with providing more opportunities to serve our children, to offer more adult classes, other activities, and to join in fellowship on a regular basis.
Why were three distinct ministries created for this adventure?
The Board felt there were three key elements. First, create the consciousness; second, find the best available home; and lastly, create the prosperity consciousness so that we have the monies to move forward. Also, having three groups will allow for participation of many more people.
I did not decide to “volunteer” for one of the ministries, how can I participate in this process?
There will be many opportunities to participate, as each ministry will have several tasks to be completed by sub-ministries made up of most of the members of our community. You can also choose to serve now, as loving service will expand our gifts to each other and this community. Step up to the plate; be a greeter, teacher, hospitality person, prayer partner, building cleaner, office support for Cindi, etc. What do you love to do? We have an opportunity for you to express your talents.
Will we purchase a new facility, a recycled church or other building, or will we lease, or lease with an option to buy?
At this beginning stage in the process, all options can be explored. Much depends on the unfolding of the consciousness of our community. We know Spirit is in charge and that the right and perfect outcome will take place.
Will our costs be increased if we buy/lease a larger facility? Can we afford it?
We will have the opportunity to expand our individual and community consciousness of prosperity during this unfolding. This community has a strong prosperity base and the successful model that was used to bring your new minister can be used as we create a powerful vision of expanded service to our community and attract new members.
What is the next step and how can I support it?
Right now we can hold in prayer the visioning and prayer ministry and affirm that they are developing the right and perfection consciousness, vision, and words that will move us forward quickly into the field of manifestation. This is all part of the creative process.
If you wish to contact members of any of the three ministries, the Board liaison for each of these ministries is listed below:
As these ministries evolve, they will select their own “chairperson” and create their own sub-ministries.
