September 2004

Dear Friends:

The summer has slipped away and we at Unity are preparing for our fall activities. I affirm you all had time for relaxation and re-charging your batteries this summer. As I begin to think about my second year in ministry in Appleton, I think of this season as one of new beginnings as well as a time of harvest. School is starting and it is Packer season once again. At Unity Church our new activities are about to commence and there are wonderful growth opportunities that abound in the Fox Valley as well.

Let us entertain for a moment the age-old question: how do we experience God? I would suggest that we do so by the integration of body, mind, and Spirit and through loving service. As I mature, I am more mindful of how I take care of myself. Healthy exercise is one way to keep our energy level high. There are many opportunities for classes and workshops to expand our minds and our spiritual knowledge. We experience Spirit by our disciplined prayer and meditation life and by coming together in community to grow, worship, share, and support one another. If you want to stretch the mind may I suggest attending the Communications for Partners’ Workshops offered this September by Bedford Hines on Tuesday evenings in September. If you want to deepen your mediation skills, attend the “Meditation in Spirit” class that will begin in October and will be facilitated by Dr. Albert Bellg. I invite you to look at the other opportunities that are mentioned throughout this newsletter.

Loving service is another vital part of our spiritual path. What gifts would you like to share with your spiritual community? Teaching our youth would allow you to grow. Serving as a greeter or member of hospitality is a way to share your gifts and get to know one another! If you are being guided to share of your time and talents, come and explore the possibilities with me or with a member of the Board of Trustees.

Take some time this fall to ask yourself, how can I more fully experience the presence of God by the integration of body, mind, Spirit, and through loving service.

Blessings,

Reverend Morgan
