Dear Friends,
As you read this letter you will probably be in some state of giving thanks,
either by feasting over turkey or other goodies, or maybe your favorite team
will be victorious.
This month we shared ideas about blessings. One thought I invite you to
remember is that you are a blessing – just the way you are. Your very existence
adds to the energy, love and consciousness of your family, your spiritual
community, and the planet. You are a child of God and the avenue through which Spirit
expresses. If we look at the things in life that have blessed us, or are
still blessing us, I know most of them would have nothing to do with a new home, a
fancy car, or that promotion you deserve. They might be a special time with
family or friends, or time communing with nature.
I love fall and I remember walking along a canal in Ohio with Cynthia and our
two children in tow. It became an annual event. We would plow through the
leaves, listening to the wonderful crunching noises. The day always ended in a
small ice cream shop. Almost 25 years have passed since those days in Ohio and
this fall I still find myself enjoying simple pleasures. They include the
return of my eagle friends – one soaring over my head, and watching the pair emerge
from their nest where a few months ago they raised a family.
So, as the holiday season approaches, I invite you to think about what things
you can do to keep your life in balance and to allow time for simple
pleasures such as prayer, meditation, contemplation of your blessings, and of being a
blessing.
Blessings,
Reverend Morgan
