The Board Retreat of March 4-5, 2005
This time spent together is so important each year on the heels of the Annual Meeting. We welcome new board members, get to know each other a little better, elect officers and set our intentions for the coming year. We were also blessed by having Bedford Hines facilitating our gatherings.
I would like to report on two significant outcomes. First, each board member is now a “point person” for a specific activity within the church. I will work with Rev. Barclay on welcoming and working with visitors and new members. Kou will put his energy into public relations and community outreach. Al Bellg will coordinate the activity of the three Home Of Our Own ministries. Bob Mader has already started to act as our volunteer coordinator. Gail Lewin will continue to serve as our Secretary and will set up a suggestion box. Mary will continue to keep track of our “beans and blessings” as our Treasurer. Rev. B arclay will focus on adult and youth education.
The second significant outcome came about while discussing the next steps of the HOOO ministries: How will we know when we are ready to shop for a new building? How much money will be needed before we get serious? Should we be looking at a piece of land or an existing facility?
Well, it became clear in a moment that we should declare our readiness and then let Spirit work out the details. This may come to pass tomorrow, or it may be many months down the road. We are at ease with this project. We place our faith in Spirit and we are open to divine guidance and rich, perhaps unexpected, blessings. I am grateful to be part of such wonderful group of people ... your Board of Trustees.
