Adding Value
May 2005
There is a lot of emphasis in the business world these days on "adding value" to products or services. Better price, cut waste, consumer friendly, more efficient, etc. Now, isn't Unity in the business of helping people satisfy their spiritual needs? So how can we add value?
Stay with me here. As some of you know, my brain can get pretty silly.
I had the thought of advertising that we only expect 50% of the offering compared to the other churches in town….get to heaven at half price, so to speak. Low cost salvation. Go for cheap and high volume.
OK, that might not work.
Well, how about asking Rev. Barclay to chop the length of service in half. In and out in 30 minutes. It's the "Quick Lube" concept. Maybe we can't do it cheaper but we can sure do it faster. (I actually like this idea but that's because I have trouble sitting still.)
No, the truth is that everything we do is right and perfect. I think we can add tremendous value in each of our lives if we take advantage of all the church has to offer. Specifically, I have been impressed with the quality of workshops and seminars…the Keys to the Kingdom, the couple's weekend, the Prayer and Meditation classes…just look at what's been on the schedule and what's coming up. There is no better value.
There is also great value in serving as a volunteer in some form or fashion. Yes, we are all busy and often tired, but this service work adds great value to the church and to our souls. Thanks to all who responded recently to Bob Mader's appeal.
I witness lives being transformed. I see joy and happiness. I feel peace within our circles.
We are so blessed. We're the best value in town.
