June 2006
Dear Friends,
We are spiritual beings and yet we find ourselves living in a two dimensional world of time and space. Our essence is timeless and from our conscious and subconscious thoughts we do create our outer experience. Sometimes the reality of higher consciousness crashes into the world of experience presenting us with opportunities to change and grow. During such times, we grow our faith, test our Unity principles, and become the loving energy that transforms each other, our community, and the race consciousness.
On May 6th we had our second annual prayer retreat at a lovely location on Long Lake. The day was beautiful with a sense of peace as we participated in prayer and meditation and shared fellowship, food, laughter and love. Less than 24 hours later Cynthia and I took one the longest drives in our lives as we traveled to be with Vi and the Mader family after Bob’s sudden passing. It was a roller coaster from deep peace to overwhelming shock and sadness.
As I reflect back over the last couple of weeks, it seems to me that we can give the same gift of love in times of great peace as in times of great crisis. If we turn within and gather strength and love from that center of our being, we can be the expression of love, and compassion in almost every moment. However because we live in dual worlds of Spirit and body, we need to step into and honor our human feelings at the appropriate time.
Unconditional love is the glue that connects us, and creates great energy and power in our community. The outer experience is always changing and that provides us with opportunities to put our principles into practice. In times of chaos and change, we can choose to apply Unity principles to co-create Spiritual evolution and transform the race consciousness.
On June 4th we will have a town meeting and share the direction we are heading as we begin the second phase of our capital campaign. We will also have a report from our Facilities Ministry, as they search the Fox Valley for our right and perfect home. We welcome your thoughts and feedback during our open mic portion of the meeting. Participate in the changes that are taking place within our community!
Be blessed this summer by attending services, the church picnic, special events, workshops, etc. We invite you to expand the energy in our community by sharing your talents in one of our many ministries. Your expanded participation in our community creates the glue of unconditional respect, acceptance, and friendship, and yes, unconditional love. With love and prayer as our foundation, spiritual growth and transformation follow.
So I invite you to just be with the questions of a spiritual journey as we align the world of Spirit with the world of form. Become willing to live with the apparent paradoxes of spirit and body, life and death, and universal truths in an ever changing world.
Blessings!
