Gifts of Gratitude
Gratitude is often discussed in Unity and is a foundation for most teachings on prosperity. What is gratitude? Trying to define gratitude is like trying to define God; it loses some of its meaning as we limit this powerful love vibration by definitions. When we are living from a consciousness of gratitude we create a tone of acceptance and appreciation, like a beautiful song to which the Universe loves to respond!
When we give thanks we are purifying our emotional response to life as we focus on appreciation rather that fear, doubt, worry, blame, or lack. We can not experience appreciation and negative thoughts and feelings at the same time. As we spend more of our conscious awareness in gratitude the “lesser emotions” tend to gently fall away.
Gratitude is a great gift that we can weave into our linear world of our past, present, and future. When we are grateful for the persons and events from our past, we know we have completed our forgiveness process. Being grateful in the present allows us to be fully present in the moment and allows us to accept our experiences without judgment.
Being thankful for that which has not yet manifested in our lives allows us to be in the consciousness to receive that which we desire. We move from perceived limitations to unlimited possibilities without attachment to “how” or “when” our good will be manifested. An attitude of gratitude creates a consciousness of receptivity.
I believe that there is a reason that Thanksgiving comes before Christmas. As we move into a state of gratitude there is an opening of our hearts and Divine love flows. We are open to the rebirth of the Christ within each of us each year in a new way. May this Thanksgiving season open our hearts to be fully present to the Divine within us, our families, our communities, and within all our fellow citizens we share our planet with.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving and a joy filled Christmas.
In Unity,
