December 2006
In my Spiritual Reunion Meditation class, one of the exercises uses “I AM” statements to affirm our identity with a spiritual quality. I was touched to find that someone in the most recent class chose an affirmation I’d not thought of before: “I AM God’s song.”
Isn’t that a wonderful affirmation? When we’re most connected with Spirit, we are indeed God’s song. A song unites head and heart, body and soul, ourselves and others. Being God’s song lifts our spiritual consciousness, and we are joyful, strong and united with our spiritual identity and purpose.
In our own Unity church, we can be especially grateful for song. We are blessed with extraordinary music and musicians at our services, and our songs connect us with the one presence and power that guides, enriches and challenges our lives. Unity is all about being one with spirit and living God’s song of joy and peace.
So in the words of the old hymn, how can we keep from singing?
Love and light,
