Enter The Garden

As I prepare this article for our March/April newsletter the ground is frozen solid. This is hardly a time to be entering the garden, or is it? In the next six weeks we will see temperatures moderate and spring will be around the corner.

The Lenten season is a good time to enter the garden. Jesus spent time in the garden of Gethsemane prior to his arrest. When I think of a garden, I think of a place of beauty and stillness. Sometimes the only things I hear are the birds and the sound of my spade in the earth. There is something that connects me to mother earth as I take the time to be with her.

In the weeks before Easter, return to the garden. May that be a place where you are uninterrupted and there is quiet and beauty. As Jesus spent time in prayer and meditation, so can we. Like Jesus, we can question our mission in the solitude of the garden of our mind and heart. It is here he spoke his most difficult prayer, “Your will be done” (Matthew 26:42). This was a time of complete surrender as I believe Jesus knew what he was called to do. He also knew that death was just a doorway to another experience of life everlasting.

Is there something you need to turn over to Spirit? Is there a question large or small that you are wrestling with? The will of God is perfect and always for your highest good. Surrender and listen for the answer in the garden of your mind, knowing you will be guided to take the next perfect step on your journey. In spite of all the turmoil and fear going on around Jesus during the last week of his life, he was at peace. We have the opportunity to rise up in consciousness and have a resurrection experience this Easter and every day.

God is blessing you,

Reverend Morgan
