Staying in Truth
It is not an easy thing when a minister resigns—not an easy thing for the minister, or for the church. Rev. Morgan and Rev. Cynthia felt the gentle hand of Spirit moving them onward from their role in our church’s life, and the Board of Trustees has accepted their decision. We bless them on their way, knowing that God’s good is manifesting itself in their lives and in ours.
It is natural, though, to try to understand why such a thing has taken place. Is it really part of the divine plan, or is it the result of some human limitation or failure? In this time of transition, we often have feelings of loss and grief, which may include anger and disappointment as well. We also need to look to others for information and support.
If you have concerns or distress about what has happened, please share your thoughts with me or another Board member, or with our newly-appointed spiritual leader, April Kain-Breese. It is our intention to listen openly and compassionately to all the thoughts and feelings about Rev. Morgan’s resignation, and to respect and support each member of the congregation as we come to understand what it means for us individually and as a church.
It was far from Rev. Morgan’s intent to hurt the church by his resignation. On the contrary, he intended his resignation to be the highest and best thing he could do for the church. Your Board of Trustees supports that intention, and we, too, will act on our highest and best intentions for our church, with Spirit’s gentle hand guiding us forward.
So come talk with us. We welcome your thoughts about our past, our present and the future we will create together.
Just a reminder that our Board meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend. The first portion of each meeting is your opportunity to address the Board to share your thoughts and ideas. Please let us know when you would like to come.
Love and light,
Albert Bellg
