Moving Forward Together
In the words of Gary Simmons, “The dust is beginning to settle.”
It’s now been four months since Rev. Morgan submitted his resignation as our minister and April Kain-Breese took over the spiritual leadership of our church. We’ve had some good things happen in that time: four new members joined in December, and we developed a new plan for Sunday that will provide childcare during services, work better for our teachers and allow us to add adult Sunday classes. We should have the people in place to start this soon!
There’s more to come, too. Your Board has asked Rev. Barbara Ryon Hill, former Unity minister in Sheboygan, to act as our consultant and lead us through a process to move our church forward. Many of you have good memories of her from the workshop she led four years ago to help us clarify the vision for our church. She has worked successfully with many other churches and organizations as well.
The goals of her work will be to help us address any remaining issues related to Rev. Morgan’s departure, reaffirm our church’s vision and purpose, and re-engage those who want to make our church everything it can be. She will also help us determine whether we want to find a new minister or continue to have April be our spiritual leader as she goes through the field minister training program.
You will have opportunities to share your views with Barbara directly and anonymously through a written survey, and also through group listening sessions or individual appointments. Keep an eye out for the survey, which you should receive in the mail soon. Listening sessions with Rev. Hill will be scheduled in the near future.
This is a good time for our church. I’m looking forward to creating our future together!
Love and light,
Albert Bellg
