Sunday School Update
The new school year has begun and wonderful things are happening concerning our children. Three perspective nursery school teachers are currently undergoing training and should be working with the little sunbeams in October. The school age teachers are exploring a new curriculum that focuses on our Unity family. Children will learn more about Unity principles, meditation and the power of God within them. Parents will receive a note each Sunday explaining that day's lesson so they may reinforce concepts at home.

We are still in need of school age teachers. If you have the spirit within you, we need you! The lessons are easy to follow and creativity is encouraged. Classroom management tips and other training will be provided. This is one volunteer position you will find extremely rewarding! Job descriptions and applications are available on the bulletin board by the door.

At Unity, our mission is to affirm and celebrate the Christ within each of us. In a loving, caring community, we grow in awareness and appreciation of our unique gifts and talents. We learn to face life with growing confidence and vision. And we build skills and values which foster loving, joyful relationships and responsible decision-making.

Our Sunday School embraces a living curriculum which allows each child to discover truth through relevant experiences, storytelling, and creative expression. Although we recognize that there are many paths which lead to God, we focus on the teachings of Jesus and the Bible as our guide.

Our curriculum is responsive to issues which are happening right now in our lives. By linking the Bible, Unity principles, and the stories of our lives, we are able to meet at the heart of a story and discover our unity. Through creative expression, we allow Spirit to express through us, and we experience our divinity as co-creators with God.

Incorporated into our lessons are five Unity principles, which form the foundation for our lives.

1. God is good, all the time. There is only one power in the universe, God the Good, Omnipotent.
   
   
2. Each of us are divine sparks of God. Our true Self is whole and perfect.
   
   
3. We are co-creators with God. God is expressing through us as creativity, compassion, wisdom, joy, love, and understanding.
   
   
4. Through the Law of Mind Action, we choose the kind of life we lead by the quality of our thoughts.
   
   
5. We affirm the power of prayer, meditation, and affirmation tools to heal and connect us with our God source. We do not need to change God, but to recognize and claim the Truth which is within each of us.

Curriculum Topics focus on important issues facing our children today:

Diversity - I honor God by honoring the Spirit of God within all people.

Peace/Justice - By following the Golden Rule, I bring harmony to every situation. I am the loving friend that God inspires me to be.

Identity - Divine life flows through me, for I am the living, loving creation of God.

Prayer/Healing - God listens to my every prayer. God created me for life and I am healthy and whole.

Who I Am - I am a child of God. I am God's love at work wherever I am. Laughter is a celebration of body and soul.

Adult Education

Unity Church of Christianity regularly offers seminars, workshops, and special events to challenge and develop the spirit and the soul. Among these are Getting to Know Unity, an introduction to the Unity movement and the Unity Church of Christianity in Appleton. This discussion is scheduled periodically or by request.
