Wisconsin is a scenic wonder — the Kettle Moraine, the Baraboo Hills, the Wisconsin Dells, the Driftless Area, Door County, the Apostle Islands.  

But Wisconsin didn’t always look this way.  At various times in the distant past Wisconsin was home to mountains as high as the Himalayas, volcanoes like those in the Pacific Northwest, tropical reefs resembling those in the Caribbean, and glaciers rivaling those of Antarctica.  

These dramatic changes, as well as the modern landscapes, are the result of powerful geologic forces that are constantly at work shaping the face of the Earth.  If you’re a little bit curious about how all this happens — visit the Weis Earth Science Museum.
