Town of Winchester Area Recreational Development

Meeting Minutes

August 14, 2006

1.) The Town Board has given its approval for the addition of bathrooms and a serving area onto the pavilion.  The addition will be 40 ft. wide by 24 ft. long and will be done in two phases.  The first phase will take place this fall with the remainder being completed in spring.

2.) The Town Supervisor was made aware of the vandalism and theft in the park (damage to the concession stand on 7/25 and theft of statues on 8/8.).  The Winnebago Sheriff’s Dept. has been contacted and they will be stepping up patrols around the park area.

3.) The Town Board has approved the purchase of 6 new trash receptacles for the park.  The models will be the same as in the playground area and will have a cover.  Separate receptacles will now be provided for recyclables.

4.) Chairman Eckstein informed the TOWARD Committee that the park ordinance has been approved as submitted, with the change of verbiage from park ordinance to park rules.  Town Clerk will provide a copy to the TOWARD Committee.

5.)  Supervisor Joas informed the TOWARD Committee that the park sign is in the process of being made by the county and will be installed at the corner of County II and Park Way in the near future.

6.)  Pepsi machine was installed under the pavilion and is working.  All flavors are not available at this time.  Parks Director will contact Pepsi to find out the status of remaining beverage choices.

7.) Pavilion wall containing commemorative bricks was mounted higher to bring it up to eye level and framed out.  Pavilion opening was enclosed to accommodate the Pepsi machine.  A big “Thank You” goes to Lee Z. for his donation of time and materials on this project!

8.) Dalmatian and Fire Hydrant were anonymously returned on August, 11th.  They were slightly damaged and were taken to be repaired.  They have both been placed back at the Town Hall and secured down to prevent future theft.

9.)  Next meeting will be held Monday, September 11th, at 6:00 PM at the Winchester Town Hall.
